Samsung has ramped up its preparations for the Galaxy S25 launch. Over the past few weeks, the company has secured regulatory certifications for the upcoming flagships across multiple countries. Adding to the list, Thailand’s NBTC has now certified the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new phones go official in early 2025.
NBTC certification confirms the “Galaxy S25 Ultra” name
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), an independent regulatory agency of Thailand, recently certified an unreleased Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-S938B/DS. This confirms it as the global version of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring dual-SIM support. Interestingly, the certification listing explicitly mentions the name “Galaxy S25 Ultra,” a detail commonly found in the NBTC database.
No other information is revealed, except that the phone supports 5G cellular networks, of course. However, as mentioned above, Samsung has already obtained several other regulatory certifications for the Galaxy S25 lineup. China’s 3C confirmed 45W charging for the Ultra and Plus and 25W for the base model. FCC confirmed Wi-Fi 7 for all three models and UWB (Ultra Wideband) for the bigger two models.
Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Ultra recently appeared in the Camera FV5 database, revealing key camera specs. It looks like Samsung is keeping the main camera unchanged from the S24 Ultra. Even the two zoom cameras might use the same sensors as the 2024 model. The Ultrawide lens might get new hardware, with Samsung reportedly switching from the aging 12MP unit to a new 50MP camera.
The entire lineup is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, an overclocked 3nm processor clocked at a whopping 4.47GHz (the standard version runs at 4.32GHz). The devices will run Android 15-based One UI 7.1 out of the box. Samsung recently launched One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy S24 series. The next version will debate with the Galaxy S25, potentially bringing new AI features and other enhancements.
