Samsung may be putting the finishing touches on the Galaxy S25 series ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for January 22. Word on the street is that pre-orders for the Galaxy S25 series will open on January 24 and run through February 4. While the excitement builds, we’ve stumbled upon some intriguing hardware details about the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
No battery upgrades, Galaxy S25 Ultra will pack a 5,000mAh battery
There were rumors that Samsung might increase the power capacity in 2025 with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. But it looks like those plans won’t come to fruition. According to leaked code, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature the same 5,000mAh battery as the S24 Ultra. Adding to that, tipster Yogesh Brar suggests it will support 45W wired charging, which again, mirrors the predecessor. So, it seems we won’t be seeing any upgrades in this department. The 5,000mAh battery isn’t exactly a shocker, as it was confirmed by the 3C certification.
As for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung claims it can charge 65% in just 30 minutes. Well, if the power capacity isn’t getting a boost, Samsung better step up its charging game to make up for the upgrades we were hoping for over the past few months.
Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue to support UFS 4.0
While reviewing the leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra files, folks over at Android Authority reveal some more storage details. Unfortunately, what they found dashed any hopes of the rumored UFS 4.1 support in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Instead, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will stick with UFS 4.0, which is still a solid choice. For context, UFS 4.0 can deliver speeds of up to 23.2 Gbps per lane — double the performance of UFS 3.1.
However, since the Galaxy S24 Ultra already comes with UFS 4.0, there’s really no point of hyping up something that’s already on the table. Anyway, more leaks suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC could power the upcoming Galaxy S25 lineup. And if that wasn’t enough, we might also see a price hike in the cards.
