Galaxy S25, S25+ Leak Shows Unique, Double-Layer Camera Rings

by | Sep 16, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 and S25+ could introduce a new camera ring design. A leaked image shows unique, double-layer camera rings for the upcoming flagships. It’s unclear if this is a purely aesthetic change or has a functional advantage. Samsung may also redesign the top glass to match the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Galaxy S25 and S25+ tipped to feature double-layer camera rings

While leaked renders have confirmed the front design of Samsung’s next-gen flagships — all models are getting slimmer bezels and a narrower frame — we are still awaiting a confirmation on the rear design. The said renders showed an unchanged camera layout for the Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra but with Fold 6-like camera rings. The rings feature ridges on the top glass.

Reputed Samsung leaker Ice Universe says that may not be the final design. They agree with the leaked (unchanged) camera layout but expect the company to rethink the rings. It appears the Korean firm has come up with something unique. The tipster recently posted an image allegedly showing the side-on view of Galaxy S25 and S25+’s camera rings on Weibo.

The image reveals never-before-seen camera rings with a double-layer design. We don’t have a front-on video, so whether the top glass gets a Fold 6-like ridged design remains a mystery. The tipster confirms that the Galaxy S25 Ultra doesn’t have double-layer camera rings. This design is specific to the smaller two models, though we are unsure if Samsung has finalized this look.

If there is no functional benefit, this redesign may not go well with many Galaxy S25 and S25+ buyers. It creates space for dust to accumulate around cameras. Protective cases may not offer a snug fit either, as the top portion of camera rings is larger than the bottom. Hopefully, Hopefully, the dust surrounding this controversial redesign will settle soon. The Galaxy S25 series arrives in early 2025.
