Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge might finally have a launch date. Following a teaser at Unpacked in January, the company plans to unveil the new slim flagship on April 16, the Korean media reports. Sales may not begin until sometime in May though, with a limited initial stock.
The Galaxy S25 Edge has a launch date, and it’s approaching fast
According to an SEdaily report, Samsung will officially launch the Galaxy S25 Edge on April 16. While the report doesn’t specify this, it may not be a global launch. The company allegedly plans to release only 40,000 units initially, with sales beginning in May. That’s less than 1% of its total monthly smartphone production capacity. It appears Samsung plans to release the phone only in select markets.
While it could follow up with a wider release later depending on the market demand, the Galaxy S25 Edge could be hard to find in most regions. For what’s it’s worth, the phone will be available in three colors — light blue, black, and silver. While this report mentions a thickness of 6.4mm, recent leaks suggest the phone will be just 5.84mm thick.
Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge may offer the same 200MP primary camera as the S25 Ultra. However, it lacks a zoom camera — the only other camera on its back is an ultrawide lens, potentially with a 12MP or 5MP sensor. The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 12GB RAM and possibly up to 512GB storage.
Samsung developed the Galaxy S25 Edge to meet growing consumer demand for thinner smartphones with high-end camera capabilities. “There was consumer feedback that the Galaxy Ultra model has good camera performance but is thick, and the regular Galaxy model lacks camera performance,” Samsung’s mobile boss TM Roh said in January.
However, if Samsung doesn’t sell it globally, it defeats the whole purpose of launching a slim and more affordable flagship — the Edge might cost less than $1,000. More details should be available in the coming weeks.
