Samsung’s upcoming slim flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge (aka Galaxy S25 Slim), may not offer a dream camera setup after all. If a new leak is accurate, it won’t even feature a zoom camera, let alone introduce a new 3.5x zoom lens. The device also misses out on the new 50MP ultrawide camera found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Galaxy S25 Edge’s dual camera setup may not impress many
Rumors about Samsung developing a slim flagship have been around for several months now. Initially referred to as the Galaxy S25 Slim, the Korean firm recently confirmed that the phone will be called the Galaxy S25 Edge. It dropped a teaser at Unpacked last week, showing off its design. The prototype shown at the event sure looked thin, with rumors hinting at a thickness of just 6.4mm.
However, Samsung’s teaser debunked the rumors about its camera setup. The Galaxy S25 Edge was originally rumored to feature three cameras at the back, consisting of a 200MP primary shooter, a 50MP 3.5x zoom lens, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Needless to say, this is a dream camera setup for Galaxy fans, even better than the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
It turns out the phone will only sport two rear cameras. Unsurprisingly, fans wanted Samsung to axe the ultrawide lens and keep the zoom camera, but not to be. According to X user @PandaFlashPro, the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature an ultrawide camera, missing out on a zoom lens. Moreover, Samsung will use the 12MP sensor from the Galaxy S25 and S25+ rather than the upgraded 50MP one from the S25 Ultra.
The main camera is still a 200MP sensor, thankfully. The tipster also reveals that Samsung will slap a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective panel on the back of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The device is expected to go official between April and May this year. Rumors suggest Samsung will price it at around $1,000. However, with no zoom camera, it might be a bit more affordable. Stick around for more information.
