Galaxy S25 Edge Brings Flagship Performance in a Thin Frame

Samsung is gearing up to launch its slimmest flagship smartphone ever, the Galaxy S25 Edge. Expected to be just 5.84mm thick, this phone comes with a few compromises. However, the company has made it clear that performance remains a priority. We have fresh evidence showing that the S25 Edge runs on the same Qualcomm processor as the S25 Ultra globally.

Galaxy S25 Edge is powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite

Over the past few weeks, we have seen the Galaxy S25 Edge on multiple Geekbench entries. All of those featured an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 12GB of RAM. That’s the same configuration you get on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, arguably the best Android phone out there. The chipset in question has two prime CPU cores clocked at 4.47GHz and six performance cores at 3.53GHz.

The Galaxy S25 Edge just made another appearance on Geekbench with the same chip and RAM amount. While earlier listings showed its global (SM-S937B) and US (SM-S937U) versions, the latest entry comes from its Korean version (SM-S937N). More importantly, the Geekbench CPU scores have increased substantially, suggesting ongoing software optimizations ahead of launch.

Its single-core score of 2,969 and multi-core score of 9,486 on Geekbench v6.4 are comparable to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Of course, Samsung isn’t pitting the S25 Edge against its Ultra flagship, but these scores reinforce the Edge’s place as a high-performance device despite its slim build.

That said, we have already mentioned about compromises. The most notable compromise is the camera system. The Galaxy S25 Edge has only two cameras on the back, with it likely missing out on a zoom lens. Thermal performance is also a concern, as its slim design doesn’t allow enough from for a large vapor chamber or cooling mechanism.

Samsung already appears to be throttling the Galaxy S25 to manage heat dissipation, despite it featuring a sizeable vapor chamber cooling system. It remains to be seen how the Galaxy S25 Edge performs under heavy load. The phone may go official in mid-April, so expect more details to emerge soon.
