While Galaxy users are waiting for Samsung to release the One UI 7.0 update, the company continues to delay it. The big update is now scheduled to roll out in April, with beta releases planned for several devices this month. Ahead of that, the Korean firm has started rolling out the latest security patch. After the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, the March update is now available for the Galaxy S24 series.
Samsung pushes the March security update to the Galaxy S24 lineup
A few hours ago, Samsung rolled out the March security update, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in its home country of South Korea. The Galaxy S24 lineup has now joined the party, with Korean users leading the pack again.
The March update for the Galaxy S24 lineup in Korea bears the build version AYB1 — the full build number for the S24+ is S926NKSS5AYB1 and S24 Ultra is S928NKSS4AYB1. It should be S921NKSS5AYB1 for the base model. The OTA package weighs 284MB for the Plus and 442MB for the Ultra. Expect the base Galaxy S24 to receive a similar-sized update — anywhere between 200MB and 500MB.
It’s worth noting that Samsung rolled out the AYB1 build with the February security patch for the Galaxy S24 series in some Asian and African countries last month. Korean users are now getting this build version with the March patch. Expect the latest security update to carry a different build version in most other markets.
Nonetheless, the update should only bring this month’s 50+ security fixes, which include 11 critical Android OS patches. Samsung has already confirmed that the stable One UI 7.0 release will arrive in April, so a major feature update is on the way for the 2024 flagships. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Tab S10, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy A55 will receive One UI 7.0 beta this month.
