Samsung is widely rolling out the September security patch for the Galaxy S24 series. After an initial release in Korea early this month — it came with One UI 6.1.1 there — the latest security update recently hit the S24 tri in Europe. The rest of the world is also getting the update today, including the US and India. It patches nearly 70 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family, including one critical Android OS security flaw.
Galaxy S24’s September security update goes global
While Samsung usually rolls out new security patches to flagship models early in the month, it was mostly occupied with the One UI 6.1.1 update this month. The feature update for the Galaxy S24 series did bundle this month’s security release in its homeland, South Korea, but came with the August patch elsewhere. The company is now separately pushing the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to its latest flagships.
Yesterday, the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra received the September update in Europe. We can now confirm its availability in the US, India, and several other countries. In the US, the new SMR is rolling out to factory-unlocked units with the build number S92*U1UES3AXHF. Global versions of the phones are receiving the same update with the build version AXI1 or AXHD (last four digits) depending on the model.
The OTA (over the air) file size also varies depending on the model and region, weighing over 450MB for the Ultra in some regions. However, regardless of the build number or update size, the content remains the same. Samsung is pushing this month’s security fixes to its latest flagships. They recently received One UI 6.1.1 with several new features and enhancements, so don’t expect anything more this time around. Samsung may release One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy S24 series next month, so another major feature update is on the way.
