Galaxy S24 FE Set for October Launch, Galaxy A16 to Follow

by | Aug 13, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE has been in the spotlight lately. The Fan Edition phone will offer premium features at an affordable price. After a series of leaks revealing its specs, the Korean media has confirmed that the device will launch in October. Samsung will follow up with the Galaxy A16 budget phone in December.

Galaxy S24 FE and A16 launch timeline revealed

The Fan Edition lineup is known for a mix of premium features and affordable prices through clever cost management. The upcoming Galaxy S24 FE should live up to that billing. Leaks suggest we will get the latest Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets (slightly underclocked), up to 12GB of RAM, a flagship-grade display, excellent cameras, Galaxy AI features, and more without breaking the bank.

According to ET News, Samsung plans to position the Galaxy S24 FE as a competitor to Google’s base Pixel 9 (launching August 13) and Apple’s base iPhone 16 (September 10). If it manages to undercut rivals in price, the new FE phone can put up a good fight against the two. A timely market introduction might be critical for it to do well, and Samsung sees an October launch as perfect.

It may be a well-calculated decision from the company. The industry would be abuzz with the new Pixels in August and new iPhones in September. Samsung would want to avoid a clash against those. Once the dust settles around the rivaling products, the Korean firm will drop its “flagship killer”. Time will tell whether the new Fan Edition handset can hold its own against the new Pixel and iPhone.

For a quick rundown, the Galaxy S24 FE sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 1,900 nits of peak brightness, a 50MP main camera, Wi-Fi 6E, IP68 rating, Samsung DeX support, an aluminum body with glass front and back, and wireless charging. Expect more leaks in the build-up to its launch. A rumor mill might give us a precise launch date for the phone in the coming weeks.
