October security update rolls out to the Galaxy S23 FE
The Galaxy S23 FE is widely receiving the October security update in Europe and Asia. The new firmware build number for the phone is S711BXXS5DXI3 in both regions. The US units may receive a different build but expect the content to remain unchanged. The update brings nothing apart from this month’s security fixes. There are plenty of those to talk about, though.
“The device is protected with improved security,” Samsung’s official changelog for the Galaxy S23 FE’s October 2024 update reads. The company has already revealed that the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches more than 40 vulnerabilities, including a handful of critical ones. Samsung patched at least five critical Galaxy flaws potentially allowing remote access to threat actors.
As said earlier, this update has already reached dozens of Galaxy devices globally, including the Galaxy S24 series and the new foldables. Some regional phones, like the Galaxy M35, also recently picked up the latest SMR. Samsung will continue to update more eligible models in the coming days. Do not expect major new features to be bundled with the update for any device, though.
The Korean firm is coming fresh from the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy family. It is now preparing the One UI 7 update with Android 15 onboard. A beta program is expected to begin later this year, followed by a stable release in early 2025. In the meantime, expect Samsung to roll out several more monthly security patches to Galaxy phones. We will keep you posted.
