Hands down, Samsung’s most exciting foldable release — the Galaxy G Fold or tri-fold — is in the works. Several reports have confirmed its development, with one suggesting that production numbers will be limited. This has led to speculation about limited availability, and now a tipster has confirmed that it will not be released globally at first.
Samsung’s G Fold may only release in select markets at first
According to tipster PandaFlashPro, Samsung’s Galaxy G Fold, or tri-fold, will initially be available in “select markets.” However, the tipster doesn’t specify which countries will be included in these select markets. Last year, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition also had limited availability, being released only in South Korea and China (under a different name).

If the latest tip is accurate, we might see the Galaxy G Fold debut in China, South Korea, and any other countries designated as “select markets.” We were hoping for a global release, and that will likely happen after a few months. Fortunately, the tipster also confirmed that it’s “highly possible” the G Fold will be available worldwide depending on sales.
As for the Galaxy G Fold’s features, it may have a flat frame on all sides, similar to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. It’s tipped to feature a 9.96-inch screen, which folds to 6.54 inches. Unlike the Huawei Mate X, it will fold inward. According to yeux1111, a release could happen in January 2025. It was originally expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z series, but two sources familiar with the matter dispute this. However, we never know if Samsung has some surprises planned for Galaxy Unpacked. If so, it could mean a limited release this year, followed by a global rollout next year. But take this with a grain of salt, as it’s still an early assumption.
