The May 2025 security update for the Galaxy A56 may have introduced a strange bug. Some users have reported that their phones are stuck on the boot screen and won’t start. This effectively renders the device unusable, which is a serious concern. While Samsung has not yet acknowledged the issue, the good news is that a simple workaround can fix it.

The May 2025 update brings a bug to the Galaxy A56 for some users

Starting earlier this month, Samsung has been rolling out its May 2025 security update for the Galaxy A56 globally. The update not only bundles the latest security patch but also includes a new AI feature. The phone can now launch the Google Gemini AI assistant directly from the power button. Unfortunately, the update also brings a strange bug that causes the phone to get stuck on the boot screen.

An affected user took to Reddit, saying, “I installed the May update on my A56 today, and since then I haven’t been able to use it. It’s stuck on a loading screen. Restarting doesn’t solve the problem. What can I do?” Similarly, another user shared their experiences on the community forum, saying, “After the latest firmware update, I’m not able to use my phone again. It’s stuck in startup.”

The most frustrating part is that restarting the phone does not fix the issue. Thankfully, some users have found a solution to the issue — you just need to remove the SIM card and then reboot the phone. Once the phone starts up normally, you can reinsert the SIM card. Several users have confirmed that this solution worked for them, so you should try it as well.

While the fix is simple, many users are unhappy that a regular update can cause such a big problem. Samsung might be aware of the bug, though it has not acknowledged the issue publicly yet. We can expect the Korean firm to address this boot screen stuck issue in future software updates.
