Yesterday, Samsung officially launched the Exynos chipset expected to power the Galaxy A56. A leak has now revealed the camera specs of the upcoming premium mid-range smartphone. The device appears set for a major selfie camera upgrade. The rear-facing cameras remain unchanged, though.
Galaxy A56 camera specs revealed in new leak
Sources have told GalaxyClub that Samsung plans to equip the Galaxy A56 with a 12MP selfie camera. It may be a substantial drop in resolution from the Galaxy A55’s 32MP sensor, but the new camera should feature advanced technologies and produce better photos and videos. Even the S series flagships, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra sport a 12MP selfie shooter.
The Galaxy A56 may not get a flagship sensor, but you never know. The gist is that Samsung is finally upgrading the selfie camera on its A5x series premium mid-range phones. The lineup has featured the same 32MP sensor since the Galaxy A51 in 2020. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t plan to upgrade the rear camera setup on the upcoming model.
The same source says the Galaxy A56 will sport an unchanged 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro camera on the back. The Galaxy A55 and A54 had the same setup. We found the Galaxy A55 a bit lacking in the camera department, so it’s good to see Samsung changing at least something. Ideally, we’d like to see it improve the rear cameras too.
The Galaxy A56 is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2025, a few months after the Galaxy S25 series. It could be accompanied by the Galaxy A36. The latter recently leaked in renders with a redesigned camera array. Samsung is returning to a camera bump after two years. The Galaxy A56 should feature the same design. Stay tuned for more leaks about these devices.
