Last week, Samsung released the September 2024 security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. Following an initial rollout in the US, the update is now widely available in other regions. In the meantime, the company has rolled out the latest security patch to a couple of A series phones, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A14 5G. More Galaxy devices will receive the update in the coming days.
Samsung’s September update expands to more Galaxy devices
The Galaxy S24 series was the first to get Samsung’s September security patch, aka Security Maintenance Release (SMR). The company bundled the new SMR with the One UI 6.1.1-based update for Korean units. However, the same update didn’t bring the latest security patch to other regions. Samsung kept the devices on the August patch. It should roll out the September SMR separately.
Meanwhile, it released the security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in the US and gradually expanded it to other markets. The Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A14 5G have now joined the party. The former is picking up the update in Europe with the firmware build number A556BXXS4AXH4. It brings nothing more than this month’s security fixes — there are 67 of those, including some critical ones.
The Galaxy A14 5G is getting the latest security patch in India, SammyFans reports. The new firmware build number for this budget phone is A146BXXS6CXHA. Its update weighs under 230MB and only contains the said 67 security fixes. Of course, the device isn’t vulnerable to all 67 of those, but the September 2024 update patches all security issues affecting the Galaxy A14 5G.
Samsung will soon roll out the September SMR to more Galaxy devices. As said earlier, the Galaxy S24 series is yet to receive the latest security fixes globally. The company is also preparing to push One UI 6.1.1 to other models. It may bundle the new SMR with the big feature update for those. We will keep you posted accordingly. You can check for updates from the Settings app on your Galaxy.
