As January 2025 comes to a close, Samsung has yet to begin the stable One UI 7.0 rollout. In comparison, the One UI 6.0 update started rolling out in October 2023. The company is already behind schedule by over three months, and there’s still no telling when the big update will arrive. However, it has been pushing monthly security patches to eligible devices on time. The Galaxy A35, A53, A23, and A32 recently received the January security update.
Samsung’s January security update rolls out to a bunch of Galaxy A phones
All of these Galaxy A series phones are receiving this month’s security update in the US and select other markets. The firmware build number varies depending on the model and carrier variant, but the content remains the same. Samsung is pushing the 50-odd security fixes detailed in its latest monthly security bulletin, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release).
As usual, those include Android OS patches from Google and Galaxy patches from Samsung. The January SMR for the Galaxy family addresses at least six critical Android OS vulnerabilities. Some of the flaws could allow attackers to gain remote access to your device. You should always install the latest available security updates for your phone. Samsung has already updated several devices to this month’s patch, and the Galaxy A35, A53, A23, and A32 now join the list.
Apart from the Galaxy A32, all other models are eligible for Samsung’s One UI 7.0 update. The company is expected to begin the rollout in the first week of February. It will first update the Galaxy S24 series, then gradually cover recent flagships before expanding to budget and mid-range segments. It might be a while before the likes of the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A23 receive One UI 7.0. We will let you know when the rollout officially begins next month.
