Galaxy A06 arrives with Samsung’s Key Island design
The Galaxy A06 features the Key Island design, a relatively new design element where the frame around the power and volume keys is slightly raised. The rest of the frame is flat with rounded corners. The phone is also flat from the front and back, with Samsung offering a 6.7-inch display featuring a U-shaped notch and a 90Hz refresh rate. The bezels around the screen are thick and loudly scream budget phone.
Samsung has kept the same MediaTek Helio G85 chipset as on the Galaxy A05. It’s a 12nm SoC with a peak speed of 2.0GHz, so don’t expect groundbreaking performance from the Galaxy A06, even by its budget standard. The chipset is supported by 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. The phone runs Android 14 out of the box and will receive updates up to Android 16. Do not expect Galaxy AI features.
The package also includes a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner, a 50MP primary rear camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 25W charging. Additionally, you get Samsung Knox Vault for enhanced security of your data. Samsung says Knox Vault will be regularly updated for up to four years, suggesting that the phone will receive security patches for four years from launch, i.e., until August 2028.
As of this writing, the company has announced the availability of the Galaxy A06 in Vietnam. The phone costs VND 3,190,000 (approx. $127) for the 4GB+64GB model and VND 3,790,000 (approx. $151) for the 6GB+128GB model. Sales begin on August 22, with Samsung offering a free 25W charger to buyers until September 30. It’s unclear if the Korean firm plans to release the Galaxy A06 in other markets anytime soon.
