Samsung is widely expected to ship the Galaxy S25 flagships with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite globally. However, the company hasn’t abandoned the Exynos 2500. It plans to use the in-house chip in 2025 foldables and potentially other devices next year. A recent leak sheds some light on this upcoming Exynos processor, including its variants.
Exynos 2500 may have two variants, one with a deca-core CPU
Despite allegedly going all-in with Snapdragon for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung may have stated Exynos 2500 mass production. The Korean media suggested the company will use the chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 or Flip 7 FE (or Flip FE). It might be even considering shipping the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Fold 7 SE (or Fold SE 2) with the in-house processor.
The upcoming 3nm chip reportedly comes in two variants: one with an octa-core CPU (A) and the other with a deca-core CPU (B). CPU speeds aren’t known yet, but an X user suggests the octa-core variant features one Cortex-X925 prime core, five Cortex-A725 mid-cores, and two Cortex-A520 efficiency cores.
The deca-core variant allegedly adds two more Cortex-X925 prime cores, while the five mid-cores and two efficiency cores remain unchanged. Samsung pairs the CPU with the AMD-powered Xclipse 950 custom GPU. According to these X reports, the company has different plans for the two Exynos 2500 variants.
The Exynos 2500 A may power smartphones, including foldables, while the “B” could go inside bigger devices like tablets and Galaxy Book laptops. Interestingly, Samsung switched from Snapdragon to MediaTek’s Dimensity processors for its flagship tablets this year. The company has yet to launch Windows laptops with an Exynos chipset.
These reports remain unconfirmed, so we recommend taking them with caution. However, it seems highly likely that the Exynos 2500 is still in play. It will probably power at least one Galaxy foldable next year. Stay tuned for more leaks and rumors as the story develops.
