Breaking! Leaked Galaxy A36 Renders Reveal Major Design Overhaul

by | Oct 18, 2024 | Galaxy A, News

Samsung may be planning a major redesign for the Galaxy A36. If leaked renders are accurate, the upcoming mid-range phone will feature a camera bump. This would be a notable shift, as no Galaxy phone, aside from the Fold series, has had a camera bump in the past two years. From entry-level to flagship models, Samsung has opted for a minimalist design with individual camera lenses protruding directly from the back panel.

Galaxy A36 renders leaked, show a major design shift

Prolific leaker Steve H. McFly (aka OnLeaks) teamed up with Giznext to release the first set of 3D renders of Samsung’s Galaxy A36. As you can see in the images below, the new mid-range phone has a camera island housing three rear-facing cameras. The current model, Galaxy A35, has its cameras peeking directly from the rear cover. There is no separate housing for the lenses, a design language seen on all recent Galaxy phones.

This change suggests Samsung plans to create separate brand identities for its flagships and affordable lineups. The Galaxy S25 series keeps the minimalist approach, while the Galaxy A36 deviates to a new look with the return of a camera bump. It’s a compact island with three cameras packed tightly. The rest of the design language remains unchanged. The device retains the so-called Key Island design for the power and volume buttons.

The display, which is said to be a 6.64-inch flat panel, has sizeable bezels with a thicker chin. Samsung has moved the SIM tray from the top to the bottom. It sits alongside the USB-C port and a bottom-firing speaker. The handset is said to measure 162.6 x 77.9 x 7.4mm in dimension — 78.4mm wide including Key Island and 9.6mm thick with the camera bump. It is thinner than its predecessor (8.2mm without camera rings).

The latest leak doesn’t reveal additional information about the Galaxy A36. A recent benchmark run suggests Samsung will ship the phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 or Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor. It will feature at least 6GB of RAM and arrive with Android 15 onboard. The company might unveil the device alongside the Galaxy A56 in the first quarter of 2025, a couple of months after the Galaxy S25 launch early next year.
