Breaking: Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition Tipped to Support S Pen

by | Aug 30, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News

In a surprising twist, a trusted tipster has revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will, in fact, support the S Pen. This news comes as a shock to many, as earlier reports had widely suggested that Samsung was dropping S Pen compatibility to achieve a slimmer design. The latest information adds to the growing anticipation for the upcoming foldable.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition may support the S Pen, after all

Rumors of Samsung developing a slim new foldable have been circulating for some time. Early reports consistently suggested that the company would remove the S Pen digitizer for a slimmer build. However, renowned tipster Ice Universe recently claimed that the device, rumored to be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, still offers S Pen support.

The tipster shared the information via an X post. As of this writing, they haven’t backed up their claim with additional info or evidence. However, considering their history, there is little reason to doubt the claim. Samsung may have figured out a way to make the foldable thinner without removing the S Pen. After all, foldables are supposed to enhance productivity, and the S Pen can be helpful in that.

Leaks say the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is 10.6mm thick when folded and 4.9mm when unfolded. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 12.1mm when folded and 5.6mm when unfolded. The new foldable also reportedly weighs significantly less than the Fold 6’s 239 grams. It is bigger too, featuring an 8-inch folding screen and a 6.5-inch cover display, up from 7.6 inches and 6.3 inches.

Additionally, rumors have hinted at big camera upgrades. Samsung will offer a 200MP primary rear camera and a 5M under-display selfie camera. The company has also developed a new type of UTG (ultra-thin glass) panel to reduce the display crease and improve durability. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition may see a limited launch in China and South Korea in late September.
