The long wait has finally ended for Galaxy Watch users. Samsung today announced the One UI 6 Watch update for its Wear OS-powered smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5, Watch 6, and Watch FE will receive this update globally over the next few days. The new One UI version is available out of the box on the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra.
One UI 6 Watch rolling out globally for eligible Galaxy Watch models
Based on Wear OS 5, One UI 6 Watch is the latest version of Samsung’s custom smartwatch platform. The company has been beta-testing this update since June. While the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra arrived in July running this version, older models didn’t receive the update. The Korean firm continued to release beta builds.
In late October, Samsung ended the One UI 6 Watch beta program for the Galaxy Watch 6 series but the Watch 5 and Watch 4 lineups received another beta update earlier this month. The firm has finally announced a global rollout of this update, bringing the latest health features and other software tools to Galaxy smartwatch users worldwide.
The update is rolling out to all eligible models, though it may take a while before everyone gets it. The OTA (over the air) firmware comes with the build number R930XXU1BJX2 for the base Galaxy Watch 6 model’s Bluetooth variant in South Korea. It weighs around 1.8GB and carries the October security patch.
While the build number and update size may vary depending on the model and region, the content will mostly remain the same unless a certain model doesn’t support some features. You should get a notification when the update is available for your Galaxy Watch. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app on your watch or the Watch Settings menu in the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone.
