Blackmagic Camera Expands to Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6 & more

by | Sep 13, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News

The Blackmagic Camera app is now available for Samsung foldables. The company has released the app for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Fold 5, and Flip 5. It already supported the Galaxy S24 Ultra and other high-end Galaxy phones. The app is also compatible with Pixel flagships, while the latest update adds support for the Xiaomi 13T.

Blackmagic Camera brings pro-grade videography to Galaxy Fold and Flip

Blackmagic is a renowned maker of high-end digital cameras. A few months ago, the company released an Android app called Blackmagic Camera. It offers pro-grade video recording controls and quality. You get granular manual controls over various parameters, including audio levels, shutter angle, tint, white balance, ISO, and many more.

The app is primarily designed for professional videographers, who would find regular camera apps too basic or bare-bones. However, anyone can use Blackmagic Camera on their Android phone to record high-quality videos. That said, the initial version of the app wasn’t compatible with many devices. It only worked with select Samsung and Google flagships.

Blackmagic recently released version 1.3 of its Camera app for Android. The new version introduces several new features and expands support to Samsung’s 2024 and 2023 foldables. It also rolled out to the Xiaomi 13T. As far as new features are concerned, the app now lets you record timecode with clips, record time-lapse videos, and adjust audio gain.

The updated version also supports anamorphic lens de-squeeze, higher frame rate recordings on Pixels, and off-speed recording. If you want to record pro-grade videos, Blackmagic Camera is probably the app to go. Note that it cannot capture still photos. The app is only made for video recording. Samsung’s Expert RAW app offers a similar set of pre-grade controls for photos. It works on most high-end Galaxy phones launched in 2020 and later.
