Another day, another batch of Samsung devices received the August security update. The Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52s are the latest to pick up this month’s security release. Samsung’s August security patch for Galaxy devices addresses 50 vulnerabilities, including two critical flaws.
Galaxy A52 and A52s receive Samsung’s August update
Over the past week, Samsung has updated more than 20 different Galaxy devices to the August SMR (Security Maintenance Release). Some devices have received the update globally, while others are currently picking it up in select markets. The company will gradually roll out the new security patch to all eligible models worldwide in the coming weeks.
As part of this push, Samsung has released the latest security update for the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52s. Both devices are receiving the new SMR in Europe with firmware build numbers A525FXXS8FXG3 and A528BXXS9GXG5, respectively. The rollout is currently limited to the 4G/LTE model of the former. The 5G model may join the party soon.
Neither device is getting anything more than the 50 security fixes mentioned above. The update doesn’t bring new features or improvements. The Galaxy A52 is no longer eligible for feature updates, while the Galaxy A52s could pick one more. It is unlikely to receive Android 15 and One UI 7.0, though. Samsung has already launched three succeeding models — Galaxy A53, A54, and A55.
If you are using a Galaxy A52 or Galaxy A52s, watch out for a notification about the August update in the coming days. Since updates are released in batches, the new SMR may not be available to everyone at the same time. You can manually check for updates from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap Download and install. Your phone will prompt you to download the update if available. If not, check back again later.
