Google now aims to make AI on smartphones more transparent and easier to understand. The company has announced a new feature called Android Halo, which shows AI activity in real time. It will be available on Android 17 devices later this year.

You can now stay in sync with your AI agent, thanks to Android Halo

While AI makes our day-to-day life easier, one major concern remains transparency. As AI agents run in the background to complete tasks on your behalf, you may not always know what is happening or what stage the process is at. To address this, Google is trying to improve visibility with Android Halo. The feature gives you at-a-glance visibility about what your AI agent is doing.

“Android Halo makes your agent’s status visible by bringing subtle communication to the top of your phone screen as it takes on a task, goes into live mode or sends you a message,” the company wrote in a blog post. Simply put, you can now see the agent’s progress through clear status indicators right on the screen.

Google says it will work with Gemini Spark and other supported agents. In addition to Android Halo, the company also announced Gemini Spark as a 24/7 personal AI agent that helps you navigate your digital life. Once you assign a task, the agent continues working in the background all the time. The best thing is you don’t need to worry whether your phone or laptop is turned off.

So, Gemini Spark and Android Halo will change how you experience AI today. Moreover, with Gemini Intelligence, Android Halo will offer more capabilities. The company says the new AI visual status tool will be available on devices running Android 17 later this year. This means that for Samsung, One UI 9 could bring this feature to Galaxy devices.
