Samsung TV Plus hits 88 million monthly active users in the US
If you use a Samsung device, you are probably familiar with Samsung TV Plus. It is a free video streaming service available on a wide range of Samsung products, including TVs, smartphones, tablets, monitors, and even refrigerators. You can also access it on the web. Powered by ads, the app offers over 2,500 linear channels and is installed on nearly 600 million active devices globally.
A few months ago, the Korean firm expanded the Samsung TV Plus library by expanding its partnership with Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG). It added more than 500 hours of fresh new content to the service, giving viewers more content to watch. This expansion has made it the most popular app on Samsung TVs in the US with 88 million monthly active users.
“The service’s rapid expansion has been fueled by its core U.S. user base of Gen Zers, Millennials, and Gen Xers, who over-index in the key advertising 18-49 demographic,” Samsung said in a press release. The company is also focused on a global expansion of the service. It recently launched Samsung TV Plus in Singapore and the Philippines. Samsung users in Thailand will get it soon.
Samsung says TV Plus is seeing increased consumption across both linear channels and AVOD. On-demand viewing has surged more than 400% YoY globally, the company confirms. The platform has carved out a strong viewership thanks to its unique offerings at no cost. You can download the app on your Galaxy phone or tablet from the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store.
