Samsung Rolls Out May 2026 Update for Galaxy S24 Series

Samsung has started rolling out the first post-One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S24 series. The new software package brings the May 2026 Android security patch and potentially additional stability improvements. The update should gradually reach all users worldwide.
Galaxy S24 series gets the May 2026 security update from Samsung
Over the past few weeks, Samsung has released One UI 8.5 for dozens of Galaxy devices, including almost all eligible flagship models. While recent releases bundled the May security patch, devices that received One UI 8.5 in the initial phase missed out on the latest security fixes. The Galaxy S24 series was among those, and Samsung is rolling out another update to address that.
The May 2026 security update is currently available for Galaxy S24 users in South Korea, with a wider rollout expected in the coming days. The new firmware release carries the build version DZE1 and weighs around 448MB for the Ultra model. As usual, the build version and OTA size may vary depending on the model, carrier, and region.
The update mainly focuses on security enhancements and system refinements. Samsung’s May 2026 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) includes fixes for a total of 39 security vulnerabilities affecting Android and Galaxy devices. Some of the addressed flaws are classified as high-severity and critical vulnerabilities, making this an important update for device security.
Additionally, Samsung may have included some software optimizations to stabilize the large number of changes introduced with One UI 8.5. Do not expect any new features, though. If you own a Galaxy S24, you can manually check for the new software update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. As always, Samsung is releasing the update gradually, so availability may differ depending on your country, carrier, and device model.
