Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 Now Receiving One UI 8.5 in Global Markets

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update continues to reach more Galaxy users worldwide. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, which picked up the big update in Korea last week, are now getting One UI 8.5 in global markets. Users in the US and other regions should receive it soon.
One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 expands beyond Korea
Users of these two foldables can identify the One UI 8.5 update through firmware versions ending in GZE2 or GZE3. Well, the exact build version may vary depending on the model and region, but the fourth character from the last will be G. It denotes a major One UI release (it was F for One UI 8.0).
As usual, Samsung is distributing the update in phases, so it may take a while for One UI 8.5 to reach the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 across all global regions. Users can check for updates manually from Settings > Software update > Download and install. If the update does not appear immediately, it simply means Samsung has not started the rollout for that specific device or region yet. You can wait a few days and check again.
As far as the content of this update is concerned, One UI 8.5 introduces several refinements focused on performance, responsiveness, and usability. Samsung has optimized system animations, improved multitasking fluidity, enhanced battery efficiency, and refined overall system stability on both foldables. The update also reportedly brings a handful of newer Galaxy AI features that first debuted with the Galaxy S26 lineup.
For foldable users, One UI 8.5 enables smoother app transitions, more stable split-screen behavior, and faster responsiveness when switching between apps or using floating windows. While One UI 8.5 is not a major visual redesign, it focuses heavily on refinement and practical day-to-day improvements, something especially important for foldable devices, where software optimization plays a major role in usability.
