Samsung appears to be stepping up preparations for the launch of its first-gen Galaxy Glasses. A recent update to the Nearby Device Scanning app, part of One UI’s core connectivity tools, includes a subtle but telling clue: support for quick pairing with “glasses.” The release notes also hint at deeper integration with ecosystem products, including smartphones.

Samsung confirmed plans to launch AI-powered smart glasses last year, but never shared an exact timeline. The company also has yet to reveal a name for the product. Meanwhile, leaks suggest the first-gen model will be called the Galaxy Glasses, and it could arrive as early as July of this year. Samsung could launch it alongside the new foldables on July 22.

The latest update for Samsung’s Nearby Device Scanning app (version 11.1.23.4), a built-in component of One UI used to detect and connect nearby accessories, now drops a big hint at its imminent launch. The official changelog suggests that the Galaxy Glasses will support Quick Pair, allowing users to connect instantly with compatible devices.

Additionally, the glasses may show battery levels directly on connected Galaxy phones and tablets, similar to how Galaxy Buds and Watches display their battery status. This points to a familiar, ecosystem-driven experience.

This leak comes right on the heels of another major leak revealing the full design of the upcoming AI glasses. Samsung appears to be taking a fashion-first approach, with the Galaxy Glasses resembling classic Wayfarer-style sunglasses. The company could equip the pair with a 12MP single camera, an LED indicator, built-in microphones and speakers, and a touch-sensitive surface for controls.

The Galaxy Glasses may run on Google’s Android XR platform, which also powers the Galaxy XR headset, with Gemini handling AI tasks. They may lack an onboard display, but offer voice-based queries and real-time answers, hands-free controls for music and calls, and other quick actions. More details should emerge in the coming weeks.
