Truth be told, Samsung has already impressed us with the Privacy Display feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It later came to light that the feature was originally meant to debut on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but that never happened. Now that the Galaxy S26 series is up for pre-order, Samsung Display is showing off a smarter version of Privacy Display.

At the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC 2026), Samsung Display is showcasing Flex Magic Pixel, the technology that powers the Privacy Display feature. Right now, you can enable or disable Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and you can also customize it for specific apps and actions.

What stands out this time is that Samsung is exploring more flexible implementations. One version restricts privacy mode to the bottom half of the display. That setup would shield sensitive details such as PINs, unlock patterns, or banking passwords, while keeping the top half fully visible. It makes sense for apps where only a portion of the screen contains private information. Our friends at 9to5Google shared images of the feature in action, which offer a clearer look at how it works.

There’s also another variation that limits privacy mode to the Edge panel alone. The advantage here isn’t immediately obvious, but it does show that Samsung is experimenting with different use cases. Samsung told the outlet that these versions are still in development and aren’t ready for a public rollout. That means there’s no confirmed timeline yet.

The good news is that the Galaxy S26 Ultra already includes the necessary hardware to support these expanded options. In theory, Samsung could enable them later through a software update. Whether that actually happens is another question. It ultimately depends on the company’s rollout plans.
