by | Sep 12, 2024 | Galaxy Watch, News, One UI

Samsung has released another One UI 6 Watch beta update for the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch 4. It brings a host of bug fixes and stability improvements as the company prepares for the stable release. We still don’t have a release date for this Wear OS 5-based update for Galaxy smartwatches.

Samsung’s Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch hits sixth beta update

One UI 6 Watch is a major update for Samsung smartwatches. Based on Google’s Wear OS 5, it brings new features, UI enhancements, and other functional upgrades. The Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra ran the new version out of the box. Samsung is now preparing to roll out the update to older models, including the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 5, Watch 4, and Watch FE.

It has been testing the big update through public beta programs. The beta phase began in July and is still running. The latest release marks the sixth beta update for the Watch 6 and the fifth for the Watch 5 and Watch 4 (there is no beta program for the Watch FE). The new build bears the firmware version ZXI8 (last four digits) for all models and carries an identical changelog.

The changelog says Samsung has addressed various bugs to improve the system stability for more reliable performance. The update implements proper measures to lower undue power drain, enhance app performance, and improve network interoperability. The latest beta build also patches other minor bugs that could be affecting the overall performance of the watches.

While this is mostly a generic changelog for beta updates, it indicates Samsung is closer to the finish line. It may soon begin the stable One UI 6 Watch rollout. Beta users in South Korea and the US might get the update first, followed by the rest of the world. Maybe the rollout will begin after Samsung is done with the One UI 6.1.1 update for supported phones and tablets, we shall find out soon.
