Galaxy S25 Ultra Design Maintains Note Series Design Lineage

by | Aug 15, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

The time for Galaxy S25 Ultra hype is here as we just got our first look at the new design. Expert Samsung leaker Ice Universe unveiled the new design in a professional render of the upcoming device. One point of contention among fans is the new rounded corners, that replace the boxy design on the S24 Ultra. Many users prefer the sharper corners, previously found on the Galaxy Note series. On the other hand, the rounded design provides a more ergonomic experience in-hand and aligns with Apple’s design on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Galaxy S25 Ultra Compared to S20 Ultra and S21 Ultra

After posting the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Ice Universe followed that up with a visual comparison to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Now, he has shared a picture on X comparing the S20 Ultra, S21 Ultra, and S25 Ultra. While the S25 Ultra is clearly more rounded than its immediate predecessor, it is still quite boxy. If you take a close look, the S20 Ultra and S21 Ultra were much rounder. This makes sense from a technical perspective, given the inclusion of the S Pen starting with the S22 series. It appears Samsung is aiming for the best of both worlds with this new design. The S25 Ultra should appeal both to S line fanatics and Note line purists. One important question unanswered by these leaks is whether the S25 Ultra display will feature flat or curved glass edges. It would certainly make sense for Samsung to continue with the mostly flat display found on the S24 Ultra, but that is yet to be confirmed.

It’s also clear from this comparison that the S25 Ultra bezels are extremely slim. Samsung has come a long way over this 4 year period to create a compact 6.9″ flagship. We should find out a lot more about the Galaxy S25 Ultra in the coming months, including details on the redesign for the 3x telephoto and ultra wide cameras.
