Galaxy AI Expands to These Mid-Range Phones Soon

Samsung recently said that Galaxy AI will reach more than 200 million devices before the end of this year. It appears this will happen through an expansion of AI features to mid-range phones. The company is reportedly preparing to roll out some Galaxy AI tools to the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. The AI suite is already available on flagship phones, tablets, foldables, watches, premium earbuds, and the Galaxy Ring.

Galaxy AI is coming to the Galaxy A55 and A35 mid-range phones

Since AI features require more processing power and RAM, they are primarily limited to high-end devices. However, Samsung seems confident that its Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 mid-rangers can run some Galaxy AI tools smoothly. Well, the company hasn’t officially announced this, but sources told SamMobile that it is preparing to introduce some AI features to the two A series models launched earlier this year.

The publication says this will happen with the One UI 6.1.1-based update, which is expected later this month or in September. However, the report doesn’t specify which features will make the cut. Samsung will probably only offer some cloud-based tools that don’t require a huge amount of on-device processing. Even the Galaxy S23 FE, the most affordable Samsung phone with Galaxy AI, missed out on Instant Slow-Mo.

Interestingly, the report says Samsung has no plan to push Galaxy AI to older mid-range phones. The Galaxy A35 uses the same processor as last year’s Galaxy A54 — Exynos 1380 — but the latter model still won’t get AI features. The company seemingly plans to offer AI in 2024 and newer premium mid-range devices. Or maybe it will bring Galaxy AI to the Galaxy A54 later, we shall find out in due course.

One UI 6.1.1 will also bring new AI features to many other devices. Samsung is preparing to update all flagship models launched in 2021 and later, including flagship tablets and foldables. The rollout may begin anytime now. The company will follow up with an upgraded Galaxy AI in One UI 7.0, which arrives later this year. The Galaxy S25 series will run One UI 7.1 out of the box with more AI tools and other new features.
