Major Leak Offers Comprehensive Look at Samsung’s One UI 7.0

by | Aug 3, 2024 | News, One UI

Samsung’s One UI 7.0 has been the talk of the tech town lately, with a series of leaks revealing the upcoming changes in bits and pieces. As the company gears up for the beta release, a major leak has now blown the lid off what’s to come. Reputed tipster Ice Universe just offered a tantalizing glimpse into the next evolution of the Galaxy experience. Public beta testing of One UI 7.0 may begin in mid-August.

Major One UI 7.0 leak reveals more, leaving little to the imagination

Based on Android 15, One UI 7.0 is Samsung’s next major OS update for Galaxy devices. Over the past few weeks, leaks have revealed plenty about it, particularly the visual changes. One of the most reliable sources of Samsung leaks just dropped a massive leak detailing everything new they have noticed. The company may make further changes before a public release, but here’s what it has in the pipeline.

To start, Samsung has redesigned app icons. One UI 7.0 will bring a visual refresh with icons that pop more. The company is testing various designs and colorways, so we might have yet to see the final look. But the image below shows some of the redesigned icons. Ice Universe’s leak also mentions a “new background interface”. They probably meant an updated wallpaper. Or maybe something else, we shall find out soon.

The lockscreen adds a new control area at the bottom. It offers updated visuals for the charging animation and potentially other notifications. Samsung has also made some changes to the shortcut buttons in the bottom corners of the lockscreen. The omnipresent battery indicator on the status bar has been redesigned. It is now a horizontal battery icon with the battery percentage mentioned inside it, like on iOS.

Another major change is coming on the Quick Panel. Samsung has completely revamped the layout and separated it from notifications. You can pull them separately from the top of the screen and swipe around to switch anytime. You have the option to merge the two views, though. One UI 7.0 also brings an expandable status bar pill that shows some ongoing tasks such as calls, timer, stopwatch, voice recorder, etc.

Improved system animations and redesigned camera app

One UI system animations have never been the most fluid in the industry. While Samsung may not suddenly grab that title, One UI 7.0 could offer much smoother animations, if leaks are accurate. The company has reportedly optimized all system animations for smoother visuals. From opening and closing of apps to animations for notification pop-ups, charging, unlocking, touching, and more, Samsung has refined everything.

Elsewhere, the stock camera app has been redesigned for an enhanced user experience. One UI 7 also introduces new lockscreen widgets, homescreen widgets, and larger app folders. Rumors say the new One UI version will be more customizable than ever. Samsung is expected to begin beta programs in the third week of August, with the Galaxy S24 series getting the first beta update. Stay tuned for more.
