Samsung Teases Major Hardware Upgrades for Galaxy S25

by | Aug 1, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

After confirming the Exynos 2500 chipset, Samsung announced “top-of-the-line upgrades” for the Galaxy S25 series. The company didn’t go into details but said the 2025 flagships will boast industry-leading cameras, display, processor, and memory technologies. Leaks have already revealed some of the camera upgrades and 16GB RAM for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 series may bring major hardware upgrades

For the past few years, Samsung has been focused on refining the flagship Galaxy experience rather than redefining it. The company might have reworked its strategy for the Galaxy S25 series in 2025. The Android 15-based One UI 7.0 software, available out of the box on the new phones, is already shaping up nicely. We might see similar hardware upgrades too.

During its Q2 2024 earnings call, Samsung’s Vice President of the mobile division, Daniel Araujo, was pressed about the company’s “differentiation strategy” for the Galaxy S25 series as the industry races to rebuild mobile experiences with AI. “We’ve consistently upgraded the hardware in our S Series to deliver industry-leading experiences to customers,” Araujo responded.

“We’ll continue to enhance key experiences as well [as] upgrade hardware so that we can offer top performance,” he added. “For camera and display specs in particular, where we’ve been leading, the S25 at launch will have top-of-the-line upgrades. And we’re also preparing industry-best APs and memory to boost AI performance and offer an overall premium experience.”

Leaks have revealed a few hardware upgrades

Earlier leaks said the Galaxy S25 Ultra will get a new 50MP 3x zoom camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera to go with its 200MP main shooter and 50MP 5x zoom camera introduced on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ may also get upgraded lenses for the 3x zoom camera and the ultrawide camera. The display may be upgraded to M14 OLED materials.

The 2025 flagships should run the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Exynos 2500 chipset depending on the market. Both are 3nm chips with improved CPU, GPU, and NPU performance for more efficient AI processing. Samsung is also expected to introduce LPDDR6 DRAM and advanced AI technologies to the Galaxy S25 series. The phones will launch in early 2025, but you can sign up for our mystery box now.
