Samsung recently rolled out new One UI 7.0 beta builds for multiple devices, including the Galaxy S24 series. it also finally revealed a release date for the stable One UI 7.0 update. Amidst all this, the company quietly pushed the latest security patch to a few more Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S24 FE received the March security update in some markets.

March update available for the Galaxy S22 and S24 FE

Samsung’s March SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for Galaxy devices contains over 50 vulnerability patches. This update addresses 11 critical Android OS flaws and several other issues in key Galaxy components. The Korean behemoth has already updated a bunch of Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy A models to the latest security patch.

The Galaxy S22 series recently joined the party, starting in South Korea. Users in Samsung’s home country are receiving a new update with the firmware build number S90*NKSS7EYB3. The company should soon release the update in other markets, including the US. The 2022 flagship lineup is getting nothing more than this month’s 50-odd security fixes, which is typical for these monthly SMRs.

Well, we can see this update also introduces a bootloader upgrade, but that doesn’t change anything on the user side. A bootloader upgrade essentially strengthens your phone’s security policy and prohibits rollbacks to older versions. Samsung updated the bootloader for several Galaxy devices this month, likely in preparation for One UI 7.0.

The March update doesn’t change the bootloader version on the Galaxy S24 FE, but you get the same set of security fixes (applicable patches). Currently rolling out in Europe, the Fan Edition handset is getting the build number S721BXXS3AYB3. This phone should also soon receive the March SMR worldwide before Samsung shifts focus to One UI 7.0. It begins the rollout for the big update on April 7.
