Samsung’s finally closing in on the stable One UI 7.0 release. The big update will arrive next month, introducing Android 15 to Galaxy devices. Ahead of that, the company rolled out new beta builds for several devices, including the Galaxy S24 series. We have already detailed the Beta 5 changelog for the 2024 flagships, but there’s more to the story. Here are a couple of new additions that Samsung didn’t mention in the changelog.
Galaxy S24 received several new One UI 7.0 changes with Beta 5
Samsung shipped the Galaxy S25 series running One UI 7.0 out of the box. While the Galaxy S24 lineup had already received three beta builds before that, the new flagships introduced a few new features. The company rolled those out to the 2024 models with Beta 4. The newly released Beta 5 brings more such changes, including a few Samsung pushed to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Galaxy S23, and Tab S10 with their first beta.
Most notably, Live Notifications in the status bar now supports the media player. Now Bar on the lock screen also gains live sports updates from Google. You will get live scores from your favorite team’s games directly on the lock screen. Additionally, the quick settings grid looks more compact and refined. On the Galaxy S24 and S24+, One UI 7.0 Beta 5 also adds Samsung Log support for videos in the stock camera app.
These updates, alongside the bug fixes detailed in the official changelog, enhance the overall One UI 7.0 experience on the Galaxy S24 series. Interestingly, Samsung has kept the battery icon unchanged, so still looks oddly oversized. It’s unclear if it plans to fix it with the stable build or if that’s an intentional redesign. To be honest, we have gotten used to it, but Samsung should still try to maintain UI consistency across the Galaxy family.
