Upcoming Galaxy A56 Promises Notable Upgrades at Same Price

Amid all the Galaxy S25 buzz, Samsung’s Galaxy A56 is quietly inching toward launch. Expected to arrive in March, the device has picked up a handful of regulatory certifications recently. A new leak reveals the upcoming mid-range handset’s expected specs and price.

Galaxy A56 specs and price revealed early

Samsung usually doesn’t make drastic changes to its phones every year. The Galaxy A56 will succeed last year’s Galaxy A55 and should offer some notable upgrades while keeping its core intact. A recent spec roundup from X user @TheGalox_ confirms the same.

The Galaxy A56 is expected to feature a 120Hz FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display. It should be a 6.6-inch screen with a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and HDR10+ support. Samsung could offer a peak brightness of 1,000 nits or more. The device should come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ or stronger display protection and retain an aluminum body with a glass back.

The rear camera setup is unlikely to see any changes. The new model may keep the same lineup consisting of a 50MP primary shooter, 12MP ultrawide lens, and 5MP macro camera. Ideally, Samsung should have replaced the macro camera with a zoom lens, at least a 2x portrait camera, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. Leaked renders show a redesign of the camera array, though.

Meanwhile, the front camera could feature a new 12MP sensor, replacing the aging 32MP one. Multiple leaks have previously hinted at a selfie camera upgrade for the Galaxy A56. Elsewhere, as a regulatory certification recently revealed, Samsung might offer 45W charging on the new model, up from 25W on the A55. The battery capacity remains unchanged at 5,000mAh.

The Galaxy A55 is powered by Exynos 1480, and the A56 will upgrade to the Exynos 1580, a 4nm processor clocked up to 2.91GHz. Storage options could include 128GB and 256GB, the same as the 2024 model. However, Samsung may eliminate the 6GB RAM variant, only keeping the 8GB and 12GB options.

Notable upgrades at the same price

Despite notable spec upgrades, the Galaxy A56 is rumored to cost just as much as its predecessor. The 8GB+128GB A55 launched with a price tag of £439 in the UK and Samsung may charge the same for the upcoming model. It remains to be seen if the company will bring the new premium mid-range handset to the US. It didn’t launch the Galaxy A55 stateside.
