Samsung has launched a new, year-round trade-in program for Galaxy phones. People can now sell their old Galaxy devices to Samsung without purchasing a new phone. Earlier, you could trade in your old phone only when buying a new one from the company.
Samsung now lets you trade in your Galaxy phone anytime
Samsung’s trade-in programs have always been tied to purchasing new devices. The company often offers bigger trade-in credits during flagship launches to entice potential buyers. Its new initiative fundamentally changes its trade-in program. Users can now trade in eligible Galaxy devices at any time, ensuring they receive value for their older devices whenever it’s most convenient.
This program is designed to enhance the value of Galaxy devices while providing users with substantial savings through a simple and secure trade-in process. Samsung teamed up with Texas-based Likewize to bring this year-round trade-in program. Likewize offers insurance, warranty, repair, trade-in, recycling, and premium tech support services in over 30 countries.
“We’re excited to launch our brand-new year-round Galaxy Trade-In Program in an effort to enrich the value of Galaxy devices for users and contribute to a circular economy,” said Jun Kim, an EVP at Samsung’s mobile division. “We believe customers can greatly benefit from the value of their devices in the market and the ability to trade-in safely with the support of secure transactions.”
The new trade-in program is initially available for the Galaxy S23, S22, S21, S20 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Fold 4, Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Flip 4, and Flip 3 in France and South Korea. Samsung plans to expand it to more markets in the coming months. Users can trade in their old phones through Samsung.com.
For customers looking to upgrade to new Galaxy devices, Samsung’s existing trade-in program remains available, offering even more savings. The company offers savings of up to $1,250 when purchasing a new Galaxy S25, which launches on January 22. The total amount is likely to include a $1,000 trade-in credit for recent flagship models.
