Threads is still growing, and its user base is not as big as X. So, Meta, the company behind Threads, is trying to help people move from X to Threads more easily. The company is now reportedly testing a new feature in Threads that allows its users to follow the same creators they follow on X.
Meta wants to offer the X experience on Threads
Security researcher and former Meta employee Jane Manchun Wong has found a new option within the beta version of the Threads app: Creators from X. Tapping it displays an instruction page with the title โFollow the same popular creators youโre following on Xโ. TechCrunch has also confirmed the existence of this feature. โWeโre currently testing a way for you to find and follow creators from other platforms on Threads, making it easier to connect with the people and conversations that matter to you,โ said Meta spokesperson Alec Booker in an emailed statement to the publication.
This feature allows Threads users to quickly follow their favorite creators they already follow on X, without searching for them again on Threads. It is worth noting that this feature is limited to popular creators only and not everyone you follow on X. Moreover, the process isnโt as straightforward as it sounds. There are some steps a user needs to follow to import all of the X users.
First, head over to the X app and open your profile. Now tap on โSettings and privacy,โ followed by โYour account.โ After that, tap on โDownload an archive of your data.โ Now, you need to wait for up to three days to get an email with the ZIP file. Once you get the file, look for the following.js file inside the Data folder. Finally, upload it to Threads.net. Meta will use the info to match creators on X to their profiles on Threads and let you follow them.
