If you place a modern smartphone next to one from five or ten years ago, youโll instantly see how far technology has come. Unlike today, where most phones stick to just two form factors โ foldables and slabs, phone makers used to offer a whole variety of designs back in the day. If youโre old enough, youโll know exactly what I mean.
Now, someone has added a sliding keyboard mod to the Galaxy Note 10+, bringing back the charm of those sleek, stylish phones from years past. Having used one myself back in the day, I canโt help but feel a wave of nostalgia after seeing this.
Someone modded a sliding keyboard for the Galaxy Note 10+
The first question that probably comes to mind is: How did they pull this off? Technically speaking, this mod isnโt that difficult, nor does it break the bank. It was designed by a Reddit user AdmiralSym using a Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad from a TV remote. Since it connects wirelessly, thereโs no need for complicated wiring or programming. The real challenge, however, is designing a custom 3D-printed case with a sliding mechanism to house the keyboard. And thatโs where AdmiralSym has nailed it.
The end result is strikingly reminiscent to those cool phones of yesteryear. And with the Galaxy Note 10+โs massive 6.8-inch display, it feels more like a mini laptop than a smartphone. The mod fully utilizes Samsungโs DeX mode, effectively turning the phone into a pocket-sized workstation with a physical keyboard and trackpad.
Meanwhile, Clicks recently announced keyboard cases for the Galaxy S25 series. But if you prefer a DIY approach, AdmiralSym has generously shared the 3D print files for free. Just keep in mind that the sliding keyboard mod is specifically for the Galaxy Note 10+, so youโll need to tweak it if you want to adapt it for any other phone.
