The competition is always good for consumers. Following Verizonโs recent expansion of satellite messaging, Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile have joined the growing list of US carriers offering this feature, which means those with a Galaxy S25 series phone or Google Pixel 9 series will soon be able to send text messages via satellite when outside of traditional cellular or WiFi coverage.
Galaxy S25 series gets satellite messaging via Spectrum Mobile, Xfinity Mobile
Verizon was the first major US carrier to introduce satellite messaging for these devices, announcing that its rollout had already begun. Now, Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile have confirmed they will offer the same capability through their partnership with Skylo, a non-terrestrial network provider. While the exact launch date remains unclear, the carriers have stated the feature is available now and will expand in the coming weeks.
While the current rollout is limited to only Galaxy S25 and Pixel 9 models, Skylo has confirmed that additional devices will be supported in the future.
Whatโs AT&T and T-Mobile are also working on similar technology, with T-Mobile partnering with Starlink to bring satellite messaging directly to phones. While T-Mobile plans to offer voice and data in the future, Verizon and its partners have focused only on text messaging for now. However, Verizon has suggested that more satellite features may come later.
Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile subscribers will have better connectivity in remote areas where regular networks donโt work.
