Samsung recently released a new update for its Sound Assistant app, part of the Good Lock suite. Version 6.1.00.9 of the app removes an existing feature rather than adding something new. The company has removed the Reverse Stereo function for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Samsung says it pulled the feature due to some sound processing changes, suggesting that future Galaxy devices may also miss out on it.
Samsung removes Reverse Stereo from Sound Assistant for the Fold 6 and Flip 6
Sound Assistant is part of Samsung’s Good Lock customization suite. It offers more granular controls over the system sounds of your Galaxy device, letting to customize the audio output to your liking. You can create personalized sound settings, save and share EQ settings (150 steps of fine volume), customize sound effects, control volume for two apps simultaneously, add vibration feedback for volume sliders, and do a lot more.
Reverse Stereo is also a key feature of the Sound Assistant app. It lets you swap the left and right audio channels when headphones are connected. However, with the latest update, Samsung removed this feature. Well, the feature is only gone for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, but the company may remove it from future Galaxy devices as well. That’s what its official release notes on the Galaxy Store suggest.
According to Samsung, changes in system sound processing methods on the new foldables no longer guarantee the stable functionality of Reverse Stereo. It decided to completely remove the feature rather than offer a potentially buggy experience to users. People who liked swapping the left and right audio channels when listening to music on headphones might find this disappointing, but Samsung probably had no other choice here.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 users can still use other Sound Assistant features. You can update the app to version 6.1.00.9 from the Galaxy Store. We hope Samsung is working on improving the app with more new features in the future, potentially when the Galaxy S25 series arrives.
