The Galaxy S26’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 could come with a steep price tag
The Galaxy S25 series is rumored to see a price increase of over $100 compared to the S24, depending on the model and configuration. While Samsung may not raise prices globally, buyers in certain regions could face higher costs. This is because of a rise in the bill of materials, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor accounting for a big chunk of that.
Samsung already raised prices for the Galaxy S24 series in many global markets this year, marking the second consecutive year of price hikes next year with the S25. If recent reports are accurate, this trend may continue into 2026 with the Galaxy S26 series (via @Jukanlosreve). Korean media suggest that Qualcomm is planning a “significant” price increase for its Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor.
According to the report, various internal and external factors will contribute to a higher price for the next-gen Snapdragon. Qualcomm has reportedly already notified its customers and suppliers about this. Industry experts believe this price hike will make Samsung’s Galaxy S26 flagship costlier. Samsung is likely negotiating a deal with Qualcomm, though.
In the meantime, Qualcomm has begun testing the upcoming chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or 8 Elite Gen 2 bears the part number SM8850 — the current version is SM8750.
