Samsung Wallet Now Lets You Control You Volvo or Polestar Car

by | Feb 17, 2025 | News, Samsung Apps

Samsung Wallet’s Digital Key feature is now available for select Volvo Cars and Polestar vehicles. Galaxy users driving supported cars can lock, unlock, and start their cars seamlessly using the Samsung Wallet app on their smartphones. Digital Key is already compatible with cars from many other brands, including Audi, BMW, Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia.

You can now lock, unlock, and start your Volvo or Polestar car using Samsung Wallet

Built directly into Galaxy devices, Digital Key enables Samsung Wallet users to unlock and start a compatible car without a physical key. The feature offers three convenient ways to control your car. UWB (Ultra Wideband) allows hands-free access by simply approaching the vehicle, while NFC (Near Field Communication) powers tap-to-unlock and starts the car. Finally, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) enables remote control via Samsung Wallet.

If you are lending your car to friends or family, you can share your Samsung Wallet Digital Key with them, allowing them access as needed. The key works regardless of the phone they use. EAL6+ certification ensures top-tier security against unauthorized access. The system uses UWB technology, a Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standard, to prevent signal interference and ensure reliable, precise authentication.

If you lose your phone containing your digital car key — or a friend you shared the key with loses their phone — you can remotely lock or delete the key using Samsung Find. Additional security layers include biometric authentication and PIN-based verification via Samsung Wallet.

Starting this month, Samsung Wallet Digital Key will be available for Volvo EX90 in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The feature will also roll out to Polestar 3 in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Singapore later this month. Samsung plans to add support for more Volvo and Polestar cars in the future.
