Samsung TV Plus now has more than 100 million monthly active users worldwide, which puts it among the most used streaming apps on smart TVs and smartphones. If anything, it shows how FAST platforms are holding their ground as viewers look for free alternatives to paid subscriptions.

Free streaming is working, and Samsung TV Plus is proof

Samsung says total streaming hours on TV Plus are up 25% year over year, pointing to strong engagement and high retention. Put simply, if you used to watch four episodes on the platform, you’re now watching five. The company claims 92% of users are still watching after three months, a big number in a space where people often bounce between apps.

One possible reason is that Samsung TV Plus comes preinstalled on almost every Galaxy device, as well as on Samsung TVs and even fridges. It currently offers more than 4,300 free channels across 30 countries. The service comes preinstalled on Samsung TVs and is also available on Galaxy phones, tablets, smart monitors, Galaxy XR, and Family Hub refrigerators.

Samsung TV Plus is also leaning into live events, interactive features, and creator-led programming. Last year, it streamed a Jonas Brothers concert series and let viewers vote for songs using their TV remote during one of the shows. Samsung says more than 13% of connected TV viewers used the FanVote feature, which is high for lean-back TV viewing and shows the company is pushing real-time interaction on the platform.

On the content side, Samsung TV Plus now partners with digital creators such as Mark Rober, Michelle Khare, Dhar Mann, and Smosh, along with deals involving Spotify, David Letterman, and major sports leagues including the NHL, MLB, NBA, and NFL.
