Samsung to Unveil ALoP Sensor at CES, Ahead of the Galaxy S25 Slim Launch

by | Dec 30, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

In just two days, we’ll be ringing in 2025. As soon as the new year kicks off, the stage will be set for CES 2025, where Samsung plans to roll out a host of exciting updates. This includes a stellar new TV lineup, a range of innovative home appliances, and much more. So Samsung may also unveil the highly anticipated ALoP telephoto sensor at CES.

Samsung will unveil the ALoP telephoto sensor at upcoming CES

Samsung is rumored to include the ALoP telephoto sensor in the upcoming Galaxy S25 Slim. However, the latter isn’t expected to launch until the second quarter of 2025. Some reports suggest it could be the fourth device unveiled during Galaxy Unpacked. So, the wait might just be worth it.

The ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) sensor is, in every way, an upgrade over the conventional folded zoom. In an interview with Samsung’s task leader, Younggyu Jeong, and staff engineer Minook Kim, the company moves around the details of the ALoP sensor.

Conventional Folded Zoom vs Samsung's ALoP

ALoP telephoto sensor could make its way to the rumored Galaxy S25 Slim

By placing lenses directly on top of the prism, ALoP reduces the size of telephoto camera modules, making them slimmer and more compact. The added performance enhancer is an extra advantage. This innovation enables devices to capture brighter, clearer images — even in low light — while avoiding the bulky camera bumps we often see. It also allows for larger lenses, improving zoom and image quality without adding thickness to the phone.

ALoP is rumored to be a key feature of the upcoming Galaxy S25 Slim, which is expected to be the thinnest model yet. This new sensor also helps maintain a sleek, consistent design across all cameras.

We’ll keep you updated on all the exciting announcements Samsung has in store at CES 2025. Meanwhile, you could also tune into Samsung’s press conference at the event for the latest details.
