The March 2025 Google Play system update (GPSU) is now available for Samsung Galaxy devices. Some Galaxy A54 users have confirmed receiving this month’s GPSU. It should soon reach other models — hopefully, including the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung’s latest flagships shipped with the October 2024 build and haven’t received a newer one yet.
Samsung Galaxy devices get the March Google Play system update
Since getting our hands on the Galaxy S25 lineup in late January, we have checked for new Google Play system updates several times, to no avail. The phones did receive a few updates but remain on the October 2024 build. During this time, many other Galaxy devices picked up the January or February GPSU. Now, Samsung is rolling out the March update, while Galaxy S25 users are left on the five-month-old release.
Hopefully, Samsung or Google — whoever is at fault for this delay — will release a new GPSU to the 2025 flagship lineup soon. You can always check for updates from the Settings app. Go to the About phone menu, followed by Software information. Now, tap on Google Play system update to see if a new patch is available. When a new update is downloaded, you need to restart your phone to complete the installation.
Google has already detailed this month’s GPSU patches. The company rolls out the changes in batches, with new versions of the Google Play Store and Google Play Services introducing new features and improvements. Note that these updates are different from monthly security patches. They improve core Android OS components, addressing known bugs and adding new features.
Samsung is currently preparing to release the stable One UI 7 update, which introduces Android 15 to Galaxy devices. The update goes live on April 7, starting in Korea. Hopefully, Samsung will also roll out the latest Google Play system updates for the Galaxy S25 and other devices soon.
