Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B) has received the Innovation Excellence Award from the Government of Karnataka. The Karnataka state government awarded SRI-B for its record in published patents. The award was presented during the recently held Global Investors Meet called Invest Karnataka 2025.

This award celebrates SRI-Bโs contributions to Indiaโs tech space. This R&D institute has achieved over 11,000 global patent filings for innovation, which is a major accomplishment. The institute is the top private-sector patent filer in the country. SRI-B encourages researchers to come up with fresh concepts, which later turn into protected and prized innovations.
In 2024, around 780 inventors at the institute filed patents. Out of these, 260 were first-time inventors with under three years of experience. This shows that the research institute is very supportive of young talents, nurturing their ideas.
The center has also created 180 SEPs (Standard Essential Patents), which include 100 advanced 5G SEPs. 5G technology is used worldwide and is a key innovation for modern communication systems. Over the last three years, SRI-B has filed over 3000 patents, both worldwide and in India.

Thanks to SRI-Bโs focus on innovation, the institute has earned a lot of honors in the past. It earned the National IP Award in 2015, 2018, and 2021-22. This latest recognition highlights Samsung Indiaโs top spot in AI, modems, IoT, multimedia, etc. SRI-B is a key player in driving Indiaโs growth in the global tech scene.
