In mid-November, Samsung filed a trademark application for Color Booster Pro at the UK’s Intellectual Property Office. Now, the good folks at SamMobile have spotted the company filing yet another trademark application, again at the UK’s Intellectual Property Office.
Samsung files new trademark application in the UK
Samsung has filed a new trademark application at the UK’s Intellectual Property Office for what’s called Moderate Bass. The company hasn’t announced it yet, nor will it any sooner. SamMobile reports that this trademark “applies to TVs, soundbars, speakers, and downloadable software for controlling TVs.”
As I see it, Moderate Bass generally refers to low sounds in music at a balanced level. It’s the sweet spot where the bass isn’t too overwhelming or subtle. In other words, it’s strong enough to be felt and add richness to the sound, but not so heavy that it overpowers everything else.
Where and when it’s coming is kept well under wraps, at the moment
Samsung’s filing of the Moderate Bass trademark application suggests that the company wants to use this audio tech to refine its catalog of TVs, soundbars, and more. We can’t wait to hear more from Samsung about how it plans to implement this. It’s still too early for all of that, however.
Not to be forgotten, not all trademark applications or patents lead to actual products. Some are filed to secure a brand or its associations. That’s one reason why Samsung, or any company, continues to file new applications.
So we’ll leave it for some other day when Samsung is in the mood to spill more beans. Or when there’s more insider information to back what I’m saying or just cross it out. Until then, we will have to wait and draw our attention back to One UI 7.0 and the Galaxy S25 series.
