Samsung Pushes Second November Update to US Galaxy S24 Ultra

by | Nov 26, 2024 | Galaxy S, News, Updates

Samsung has rolled out a second November update for the Galaxy S24 series in the US. The latest release doesn’t bring any noticeable changes for users but likely includes critical backend improvements. It’s unclear if the company plans a similar update for international units.

Galaxy S24 gets another November update in the US

The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra received the November security update early in the month. Alongside the 50-odd vulnerability patches, the new security maintenance release introduced Auto Blocker enhancements. Samsung rolled out stricter USB restrictions that allowed users to block USB connections by setting Auto Blocker to “Maximum” mode. Several other Galaxy devices received this change globally.

Samsung is now rolling out another update to the Galaxy S24 trio in the US. The new update also contains the November SMR, so it doesn’t bring additional security fixes. The official changelog is also very generic, with the company mentioning system stability and reliability improvements. However, the OTA (over the air) file size is relatively big, suggesting there’s more to the story.

Rolling out with the firmware build number S928USQU4AXK4, the latest update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra (carrier-locked unit) weighs over 610MB. Samsung may have optimized the software and addressed some known bugs for performance enhancements. As of this writing, the new November update isn’t available for unlocked Galaxy S24 units in the US, though it’s widely rolling out for carrier-locked models.

Hopefully, Samsung will soon roll out the update across the US and beyond if a global release is panned. Maybe this release prepares the Galaxy S24 phones for One UI 7.0 beta. The new One UI version has been delayed for months but is expected to arrive in December. We will keep you posted. In the meantime, keep an eye on Samsung Members for Samsung’s beta plans.
