Samsung’s Galaxy A56 has surfaced online once again ahead of its official launch. The upcoming premium mid-range smartphone recently appeared on the Bluetooth SIG website. The device is expected to go official in March or April next year.
Galaxy A56 grabs the Bluetooth certification on its way to launch
The Galaxy A56 will be Samsung’s next most premium mid-range smartphone. It will succeed the Galaxy A55 and directly below the S series flagships in the pecking order. Over the past few weeks, a substantial amount of information about the device has been leaked through various channels. We are in for a design overhaul, new cameras, faster charging, and more upgrades.
While the official launch is still some time away, Samsung continues to obtain the necessary certifications and regulatory approvals for the Galaxy A56. The device was recently certified by Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group), the organization that oversees the development and licensing of Bluetooth technologies.
The listing reveals nothing more than the official marketing name (Galaxy A56 5G) and model number (SM-A566B_DS). Note that the “DS” in the end stands for dual-SIM support, while the “B” in the model number indicates the global variant. If Samsung launches the phone in the US, its model number should be SM-A566U. The Galaxy A55 didn’t arrive stateside.
This certification confirms the ongoing development and testing of the Galaxy A56. Last month, its Chinese version (SM-A5660) was certified with 45W (10V/4.5A) charging support, up from the A55’s 25W. Leaks have also hinted at a selfie camera upgrade, with Samsung switching to a newer 12MP solution.
The Galaxy A56 is expected to ship with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1580 processor. The new 4nm chip offers a peak CPU speed of 2.9GHz and bundles the AMD-powered Xclipse 540 custom GPU. The company has also focused on AI and camera upgrades. It could ship the new phone with at least 8GB of RAM, potentially with a 12GB variant. More details are awaited.
